NORWALK, Conn.—A man who Connecticut police say offered strangers paid sex with his wife in an Internet ad has been fined $2,000.

Forty-nine-year-old Florian Penev of the Bronx, N.Y., pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor prostitution conspiracy charge Tuesday in Norwalk Superior Court and paid the fine.

Norwalk police say they arrested Penev and his wife, 36-year-old Zdravka Zotkova, in June after officers responded to their Craigslist ad, which offered sex with Zotkova at a city hotel.

Police say Penev told officers during his arrest that he had recently lost his job as a graphic designer.

Zotkova was allowed into a court program that will result in prostitution charges against her being dismissed if she completes it.

Penev declined to comment when reached at his home Wednesday.
