HARTFORD, Conn.—Connecticut Republican Senate candidate Peter Schiff is trying to raise enough money online to run a TV ad that repeatedly shows Linda McMahon, the endorsed GOP candidate, kicking a man in the groin during a segment of her wrestling program.

Schiff enlisted help from conservative activists across the country on Thursday, including Republican Rand Paul, a U.S. Senate candidate in Kentucky. Paul and others participated in a web radio telethon, attempting to raise $1 million.

Schiff is a money manager from Weston with a national following. His ad accuses McMahon of "kicking Republicans for years" by supporting Democrats in the past. McMahon stepped down as CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment last year. During her tenure, she occasionally appeared in scenes in the ring.

McMahon, Shiff and Rob Simmons face an Aug. 10 primary.
