HARTFORD, Conn.—Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is launching a new TV ad that sharply criticizes his Republican Senate opponent Linda McMahon and accuses her of making misleading charges about his positions on taxes.
The 30-second spot, which began running Friday, responds to her claim Blumenthal urged Washington to pass a national energy tax she says could lead to job losses, higher gasoline and electric rates.
The ad claims he stopped nearly $1 billion in proposed utility rate increases over 17 years. The campaign would not specify how much it spent on the ad.
A McMahon spokesman says Blumenthal doesn't refute McMahon's accusations because they're "undeniable."
