HARTFORD, Conn.—Hartford police say a toddler fell from a third floor apartment window as his mother allegedly smoked marijuana.
Police Sgt. Michael Kot says 22-year-old Marilis Santiago was smoking marijuana at her kitchen table Saturday when her 2-year-old boy fell while playing near an open window. The window did not have a screen.
Kot says the unidentified child suffered a bruised liver, a fracture to his right arm and facial lacerations. He was taken to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
Santiago was charged with risk of injury to a minor, marijuana possession and possession of marijuana with 1,500 feet of school.
A hospital spokesman did not have information Sunday about the toddler's condition and it was not immediately known if Santiago is represented by a lawyer.![]()
