Environmental authorities say a mountain lion killed in Connecticut last month had traveled from South Dakota. Genetic tests determined the cat that was killed by a car in Milford was one that had been tracked as it made its way through Minnesota and Wisconsin in recent years. Daniel Esty, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection commissioner, said yesterday that the 1,500-mile journey represented one of the longest ever recorded for a land mammal. Authorities said the cat originated in the Black Hills region of South Dakota and was tracked along the way by DNA samples.
