Owners of Katharine Hepburn’s residence on Long Island Sound have updated the house and are looking for a buyer. Many rooms have been combined to create larger and more open spaces. The house, which had 21 rooms and nine bathrooms, has been reduced to 15 rooms and 7 1/2 bathrooms. The sale price reflects the millions spent to renovate the house. The estate is on the market for $28 million, with the house, on the largest of three lots, offered for $18 million. Seven years ago, the property sold for $6 million. Tedd Levy, a trustee of the Old Saybrook Historical Society, said people may still think of it as the old Hepburn house, even though it is far different. Hepburn died at age 96 in 2003.
