A Navy SEAL from Stamford was among the 30 US service members killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. The mother and stepfather of Brian Bill said in a statement to The Advocate of Stamford that he was passionate about being a SEAL and they are heartbroken at his death. Patricia and William Parry said Bill was interested in attending graduate school and becoming an astronaut after completing his military service. Bill graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in 1997 and Norwich University in Vermont in 2001. The family said the Eagle scout was an accomplished mountaineer, skier, pilot, and triathlete. The crash killed 30 American troops, seven Afghan soldiers, and an Afghan interpreter.
