VERNON, CONN.
A man who threw a fatal punch during the University of Connecticut’s Spring Weekend festivities last year is facing sentencing. Edi Rapo of East Hartford is scheduled to be sentenced to up to 5 1/2 years in prison Friday in Rockville Superior Court for the death of UConn student Jafar Karzoun, 20, of Milford. Rapo pleaded no contest to manslaughter in July. Authorities said Rapo, who was not a UConn student, punched Karzoun in the face in April 2010 outside a restaurant. Karzoun fell, hit his head, and later died.
