HAMDEN, Conn.—The Quinnipiac University School of Medicine says it has selected St. Vincent's Medical Center of Bridgeport as its clinical partner, helping to design curriculum and academic policies.

A five-year agreement calls for St. Vincent's medical staff to work with the leadership of the School of Medicine to design clinical components of the curriculum and academic policies and procedures, recruit doctors to teach students and ensure the quality of the education provided by the school.

Quinnipiac announced plans in January 2010 to seek approval from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, an accrediting agency, to open a School of Medicine with an emphasis on primary care.

Pending accreditation, the School of Medicine is scheduled to begin classes in the fall of 2013.
