NEW LONDON, Conn.—Connecticut State Police say the shooting of a New London man by city police officers was justified.
The Norwich Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/mPbgrG ) that State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said Thursday the officers shot and injured 49-year-old Kevin Kenny May 28 after he pointed a gun in their direction.
Kenny was shot by officers who responded to a report that a man had shot a woman in a hallway of his apartment building. The arrest warrant said Kenny acknowledged making the call and giving police a description of himself.
Police have said Kenny planned the shooting after contemplating suicide, and that his weapon was later determined to be an unloaded BB gun.
He was charged with threatening, reckless endangerment, misuse of the 911 system and falsely reporting an incident
