NEW HAVEN, Conn.—New Haven Mayor John DeStefano has won an historic 10th term leading the Elm City.

The Democrat claimed victory on Tuesday, about an hour after the polls closed, before a crowd of supporters. He was introduced by U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro.

DeStefano had faced independent newcomer Jeffrey Kerekes.

With his latest victory, DeStefano has become the longest serving mayor in New Haven history.
