NEW MILFORD, Conn.—A 55-year-old New Milford man has been charged with robbing a local bank moments after he was spotted defecating in the parking lot outside.

The News Times of Danbury reports ( http://bit.ly/vOYz33) that Russell Mace was described in the arrest warrant affidavit as a drug addict with nervous bowels.

Mace was arraigned Monday, charged with stealing just over $3,000 from the Union Savings Bank branch on Friday afternoon.

Police say a surveillance camera recorded the robbery. Tellers had been ordered to lock their drawers moments before after a customer and bank employee reported seeing Mace relieving himself in the parking lot and then walking toward the bank.

Bond for Mace has been set at $150,000 and he is due back in court Jan. 4. Court records do not list an attorney.
