New SCSU president to start work Feb. 1
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—Southern Connecticut State University's incoming president is set to start her new position Feb. 1.
Mary Papazian's start date was announced this week, along with the appointment of Interim Provost Marianne Kennedy as the campus administrator for the month preceding the arrival of the new president.
Papazian was selected over another finalist, Interim Southern Connecticut State President Stanley Battle. Connecticut officials say he plans to leave at the end of the month, and that Kennedy will supervise the campus starting Jan. 1.
Papazian is provost of New York City's Lehman College and was the top pick in a president's search that drew 73 applicants.
She held administrative and teaching positions at Montclair State University in New Jersey and Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., before joining Bronx-based Lehman College in 2007.
