Owner ups reward for capture of killer of alpacas

ESSEX, Conn.—An Essex alpaca farm owner has increased a reward to $13,000 for information leading to the arrest of those who fatally stabbed four of his animals.
The Middletown Press and The Hartford Courant report that George MacLauchlan, owner of Applesauce Acres alpaca farm, said he increased the $2,500 reward after receiving donations.
The four alpacas were found stabbed to death Dec. 23, the latest in a string of attacks on the animals.
Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance says state police are investigating a few leads.![]()
