Conn. Teacher of the Year to be honored
BERLIN, Conn.—Connecticut's Teacher of the Year, David Bosso of Berlin, is being honored in Washington, D.C. with fellow finalists for the 2012 National Teacher of the Year.
Bosso, a Berlin High School social studies teacher, is scheduled to appear at a reception Monday hosted by Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden. The event will be held at the Vice President's residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory.
Bosso was named Connecticut's Teacher of the Year in October 2011. He's credited with translating his international travels into lessons to help his students understand world issues.
President Barack Obama is scheduled to honor the National Teacher of the Year and finalists on Tuesday. The national honoree is chosen from among the state Teachers of the Year by a national selection committee.
