STAMFORD, Conn.—Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is returning to Connecticut to help raise money for the state's major organization for social conservatives.

Santorum, a former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, is scheduled appear in September at The Family Institute of Connecticut's fourth annual "Standing in the Gap" fundraising banquet, to be held in Stamford.

Tickets are being sold for $100 apiece.

Santorum appeared at a Family Institute event last September, when he was still an active presidential candidate. He suspended his campaign shortly before Connecticut's April 24 GOP presidential primary.

Last year, Santorum gave an hour-long speech, telling the Connecticut crowd that preserving the family and fighting abortion are more crucial than economic issues. He said, "if there is no family structure, there is no economy."
