Man charged with threatening to kill parents

SOUTHINGTON, Conn.—A standoff lasting several hours in Southington ended peacefully with the arrest of a man accused of threatening to kill his parents.
The Hartford Courant reports that Raymond Tufts IV surrendered peacefully at about 9 a.m. Sunday and will likely face charges later in the day.
Police said they received a call at about 5 a.m. about a man threatening to kill his parents. Police say Tufts had a .22-caliber handgun.
Authorities warned residents in the immediate area to remain in their homes.
WTNH-TV reports that police Lt. Lowell DePalma said Tufts was intoxicated, possibly from drugs and alcohol and was very violent.
Police did not immediately provide more details on Sunday morning.![]()
