Grand opening planned for Conn. police museum
MERIDEN, Conn.—A grand opening ceremony is being planned for the new Connecticut State Police Museum and Education Center in Meriden.
Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman will be on hand for Saturday morning's event.
The museum, located in a renovated building on Colony Street, is funded by private donations. Many of those contributions came from members of the Connecticut State Police Alumni Association.
The museum will include a large selection of uniforms, badges, weapons and technology dating back to the early 1900s. There will also be a 40-seat classroom and theater that will be available for the showing of historic films and for training sessions.
There will be a room dedicated to the 21 troopers killed in the line of duty, as well as names of all fallen police officers statewide since 1855.
