Pilot faced charges before fatal Conn. plane crash
PLAINVILLE, Conn.—A Connecticut pilot killed in a July crash at Robertson Airport in Plainville was the target of a sexual assault investigation and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash, including the possibility it was intentional.
That's according to the Hartford Courant that reports (http://cour.at/OfxQO9) Plainville police are working with federal aviation and transportation officials who are probing the crash that killed 51-year-old James Seaver. His rented Cessna 172 was approaching Robertson Airport when it crashed into a berm about 20 feet short of the runway on July 26. The plane burst into flames.
Torrington police had submitted an application for a warrant charging Seaver with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor a day before the crash. The charges stem from allegations that he repeatedly raped a then 12-year-old girl in 2010.
