HARTFORD, Conn.—Leaders of the Working Families Party are planning to meet with Connecticut House Speaker Chris Donovan and discuss whether he'll keep running for the 5th Congressional District on the Working Families ticket after losing the Democratic primary.

Party officials said Monday they'll talk with Donovan, who was cross-endorsed by the minor party, when he returns from vacation. They said state law allows Donovan to decide whether he will remain on the ballot.

If Donovan chooses to give up the line on the November ballot, the party plans to spend the next few weeks determining how best to fill the vacancy.

The Associated Press left a message seeking comment with Donovan's campaign manager Monday.

Donovan lost the Aug. 14 primary to former state Rep. Elizabeth Esty.
