Marshfield group restores town history
The centuries-old Hatch Mill has stood in Marshfield in poor condition for years: wire cables hold it together, its windows are boarded up, and the upstairs floor is off level by almost 2 feet.
But the Hatch Mill Restoration and Preservation Group saw beyond the deterioration.
And so did the National Park Service. It recognized Hatch Mill and the surrounding Two Mile district on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Hatch Mill preservation group is working to restore the mill and eventually open it to the public.
