The FBI has said that the last confirmed sighting of Bulger was in London in September 2002. Hundreds of sightings have been reported worldwide and ruled out.

Prior to a press conference at the US District Court in Boston on Dec. 21, 2004, members of the media looked at display boards detailing the search for Bulger.
