Narragansett Bay's average winter temperature has increased about 3 degrees Fahrenheit since 1960. Nonstinging comb jellies, which used to disappear in the winter, are staying year-round in the bay's warmer winter waters. This allows them to build up populations earlier – in June instead of August – to feed on fish eggs, larvae, and fish food.
