Colleges respond to economic crisis
Tuition increase, small price to pay
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology president Susan Hockfield announced Feb. 19 that MIT would increase tuition by 3.8 percent to $37,782 (the smallest increase in eight years), but also increase the undergraduate financial aid budget by more than 10 percent.The university also announced senior administrators and faculty would forgo raises next year.
