Colleges respond to economic crisis
2 percent cut
Anticipating many new requests for financial aid, Boston College President Rev. William P. Leahy on Nov. 20 announced a university-wide 2 percent budget cut to increase the school's financial aid budget. The cut will total $2.5 million. In a letter, Leahy stated that the need for additional funds will be "critical," especially as "some BC families struggle with lost jobs and diminished home values."
