The deadly blaze
at the West Warwick, R.I., club on Feb. 20, 2003 started during a performance by the metal band Great White. Sparks from a pyrotechnic display near the stage set off the fire, which spread quickly throughout the crowded venue. In the end, 100 died from the fire, and the incident prompted changes in fire safety regulations for nightclubs.
