A wayward moose has been released in a rural area of southern Maine after it was found wandering a busy section of Westbrook. Westbrook police said the 600-to-700-pound moose was first spotted at Westbrook High School on Tuesday night and that it turned up again Wednesday morning on a busy street near downtown. Captain Tom Roth told WMTW-TV that game wardens tranquilized the animal because of concerns about the traffic. The animal was then hoisted onto a truck and taken to the small York County town of Parsonsfield, where it was released.
