Maine’s attorney general says a 60-year-old South Thomaston woman will serve 90 days in jail for failing to pay state income taxes between 2007 and 2010. A District Court judge sentenced Gertrude Black on Thursday to 364 days, with all but 90 days suspended, and one year of administrative release. Black will also have to pay $7,086 for the tax due. Attorney General William Schneider said that from 2007 through 2010 Black was a personal-care assistant for an elderly person with dementia. Black blamed her conduct on alcohol use.
