PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Police say a 23-year-old man has died in an early morning car crash in Portland.

Police say Robert Hubbard, of Vassalboro, was killed when he lost control of his car about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Commercial Street and crashed into a pile of gravel.

Officials say 24-year-old James Ronco, who was a passenger, is in serious condition at Maine Medical Center.
