SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Black Friday shoppers are out in force Maine.
Some started getting in line Thanksgiving afternoon to make sure they'd get an early jump on the best deals. Others drove down from Canada and rented motels for their shopping excursions.
At the Maine Mall in South Portland, hundreds of shoppers waited in line in the cold outside Best Buy on Thursday night. The mall opened at midnight, but Best Buy’s opening time was 3 a.m. Friday. Mall security says it’s busy, with the parking lot about three-quarters full.
In Bangor, the line at Wal-Mart was an hour long before its midnight opening, and shoppers were lined up at 2:30 p.m. Thursday waiting for Toys ‘R’ Us to open.
Canadian shoppers also made the trip to Bangor, some renting motel rooms.
