DEXTER, Maine (AP) — Multiple members of the Dexter Regional High School football team have been suspended for what the principal calls a ‘‘serious’’ hazing incident.

The alleged hazing occurred during a postseason sleepover at the school on Nov. 16 and 17.

School officials heard about it on Nov. 18.

Principal Steve Bell says more than 10 members of the team were suspended between one and 10 days, depending on their level of involvement. He did not detail exactly what happened but said everyone involved was a minor. Some incidents were caught on surveillance video.

Police are investigating whether anything criminal occurred and charges are possible.

The team finished 6-2, it best regular season record in two decades.end of story marker
