Fire kills 1 in coastal Maine town
BRISTOL, Maine (AP) — The Maine fire marshal’s office is investigating a fire in which a woman was killed and a man was injured.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the fire broke out in the attached garage of a house at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
McCausland says 69-year-old Lynn Ring died at the scene. Her body was found in the garage. Seventy-year-old John Ring was taken to the hospital with burns to his hands.
The fire started in the garage. The garage and a vehicle were destroyed.
Investigators say firefighters prevented the fire from causing significant damage to the home which was built two years ago, after a fire had destroyed the previous residence. The cause of that fire in 2011 was never determined.![]()
