BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) — A Maine animal shelter is seeking homes for more than a dozen cats and kittens that were found abandoned in a plastic storage container.
The Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick says it took in three adult cats and 10 kittens that were found by Freeport resident Laura Baumli while she was walking her dog Wednesday near a gravel pit.
Baumli told The Times Record (http://bit.ly/17aenqJ ) that she was relieved to find all the animals alive when she opened up the container, which was sealed with duct tape.
Baumli took the felines to the animal shelter, where they were weighed, examined and treated for fleas.
Shelter officials say three of the kittens have already been placed in a foster home, and that the others will go up for adoption next week.
