The 17th annual festival will honor Close with the Mid-Life Achievement Award. The actress has received numerous Oscar nominations, Emmys and other awards.

Organizers say more than 50 filmmakers will be involved in this year’s festival, which will feature local Maine and New England films as well as national and international cinema.

On opening night, the festival will show ‘‘Boyhood’’ by Richard Linklater. Organizers say the film used the same cast over 12 years to tell the story of a boy growing up.
