Lincoln man charged with manslaughter in fatal accident

FARMINGTON, Maine --A manslaughter charge has been filed against a 22-year-old Lincoln man involved in a fatal crash on Route 27 in New Vineyard.

Police say Ryan Hurd was driving at 98 mph when his car crashed into a utility pole, flipped over and burst into flames at 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 15.

A passenger, 34-year-old Terry Richardson Junior of Dover-Foxcroft, was killed in the crash. Hurd and another passenger were taken to area hospitals.

Police say alcohol also played a role in the accident, but results of a blood alcohol test were not yet available.
