Forest rangers warn of fire danger in S. Maine
GRAY, Maine—While there are concerns about river flooding in northern Maine, there's a different concern in southern Maine: forest fires.
Forest rangers say the fire danger is growing because of a stretch of dry weather coupled with plenty of fuel in the form of branches, twigs and leaves.
Art Lavoie of the Maine Forest Service says there have been twice as many fires compared to this time last year. All told, more than 100 fires have been reported.
