PORTLAND, Ore.—Maine-based Hydro International says it is acquiring Oregon-based Eutek Systems for $8.5 million in cash plus additional incentives.

Eutek and Hydro are the biggest makers of "grit-removal" equipment for wastewater treatment plants that help protect machinery at the plant from wear and tear.

The companies say Eutek's operations will remain in Portland, Ore.

The combined revenues are about $60 million.

Hydro is based in Portland, Maine, and trades on the London Stock Exchange (HYD).
