PORTLAND, Maine—A support group for people who were sexually abused by Catholic clergy is launching an ad campaign to reach out to victims.

The Maine director of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, said Thursday that the group will run ads in the Maine Sunday Telegram and other newspapers urging victims to step forward so they can receive help.

Paul and Marie Tupper, who have a family member who was molested by a priest, want Bishop Richard Malone to let the ad to run in the chancery's bimonthly publication, as well. Malone declined a similar request a couple of years ago.
