AUGUSTA, Maine—Gov. John Baldacci is saluting mothers on the eve of Mother's Day.

In his weekly radio address, Baldacci says great leaders throughout the ages, from Aristotle to Abraham Lincoln, have credited their mothers for their accomplishments.

Baldacci says mothers across Maine and the nation go to work trying to make life better for their children and for their neighbors. He calls them the bedrock of families and communities, who give of themselves in ways great and small.

The governor also notes that college graduation season is in full swing. This weekend, he says congratulations to all the mothers' sons and all the mothers' daughters who are graduating from college.

He also says happy Mother's Day to the women who helped make it possible.
