Maine congressional candidate returns from tour in Iraq

SCARBOROUGH, Maine—Congressional candidate Charles Summers resumes his campaign after returning home this weekend following a tour of duty in Iraq.

Summers, a Navy reservist from Scarborough, arrived Saturday and was greeted by friends and family. His wife Ruth had appeared at candidate events as a stand-in while her husband was overseas.

Summers is a former regional administrator for the Small Business Administration. He faces Dean Scontras of Eliot in next month's Republican primary for the nomination for the open congressional seat in Maine's 1st District.
