BRANDON, Vt.—About 90 people will be losing their jobs next week when high-end furniture maker Vermont Tubbs of Brandon closes its doors.

Ten employees were laid off earlier this month.

Vermont Labor Commissioner Patricia Moulton Powden said none of the laid-off employees will be given severance packages.

Last month, BSF Transitions, an affiliate of Brownstreet Furniture of Whitefield, N.H., announced it was buying certain assets of Vermont Tubbs.

At that time, company officials said production at the Vermont facility would continue while operations were reviewed. They could not be reached for comment on Thursday.

Vermont Tubbs traces its lineage to William Tubbs, who started a snowshoe company in Norway, Maine, around 1880.
