WASHINGTON—Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine is helping to lead a bipartisan coalition calling for a national energy summit with President Bush to address the nation's energy crisis.
Snowe and Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska sent the letter to Bush this week urging the White House and Congress to set politics aside to develop a consensus energy proposal.
Snowe said the effort cannot be without executive leadership, so the coalition is calling on the president to help lay the groundwork for comprehensive energy policy.
Ten other senators, including Republican Susan Collins of Maine, also signed on to the letter.![]()
