Top lobster chef wins cook-off

AUGUSTA, Maine—A lobster dish featuring Maine-grown products has fetched a Boothbay woman the title of Maine Lobster Chef of the Year at a competition at the governor's mansion.

The winner in Tuesday's cook-off, Margaret McLellan, is corporate chef at Shucks Maine Lobster in Richmond. McLellan's familiarity with the Maine delicacy goes back to her days helping her family haul lobsters from the water off Boothbay Harbor.

Her winning dish featured all Maine-produced products, such as crepes made with Aroostook County flour, Maine sea salt and eggs, Maine-grown blueberries and carrots and Maine maple syrup. Chef-judges selected McLellan over the other four finalists in a revival of the first Blaine House cook-off since 2004.
