ROCKLAND, Maine—Police officers raised more than $300 for the Special Olympics of Maine by gobbling doughnuts in a contest in Rockland.

Customers at Tim Horton's restaurant donated to the Special Olympics on behalf of the officer they thought would win. Each of the five policemen was given an assortment of six doughnuts, including sugarcoated, jelly and frosted.

Five officers were in Thursday's competition. Contestants included Rockland's chief, a Knox County deputy, Rockport and Thomaston officers.
