GOULDSBORO, Maine—A criminal investigation is under way into a fire that destroyed a lobster boat in the waters off eastern Maine.

Maine Marine Patrol Lt. Alan Talbot said the fire was reported aboard the 25-foot First Run at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday while the boat was moored in Bunker's Harbor in the town of Gouldsboro.

Talbot said the boat burned down to the water line, but nobody was hurt.

He said his department and the state fire marshal's office are investigating.
