PORTLAND, Maine—A Maine group has kicked off a national campaign that aims to have the next presidential administration develop a national AIDS strategy.

A group of activists, lawmakers and health care advocates launched the Campaign to End AIDS on Tuesday in Portland.

Maine AIDS Alliance Executive Director Andrew Bossie said groups from Maine and several other states will caravan to Mississippi for the first presidential debate next week to demand that the next president develop an AIDS strategy in his first 100 days in office.

Bossie said Maine is the first state to launch the campaign.
