BIDDEFORD, Maine—An assistant principal in Biddeford, Maine, is asking residents to support renovations to the high school, claiming the building will be condemned, otherwise.
Biddeford High School assistant Principal Thomas O'Brien is asking taxpayers to pass a $34 million referendum to repair the school. He says the nearly 50-year-old building is falling apart.
WGME-TV reports O'Brien says there's water damage on the ceiling and water also leaks in from the windows. He also says the elevator breaks down often and some classrooms don't get heat in the winter.
