CASCO, Maine—He was nearly run over by a car. He dodged snow plows. He was chased by dogs. And he injured his knee. Blaine Moore says it was the bad knee that convinced him to abandon his goal of running 500 miles this month to raise money for Maine's Camp Sunshine.

But he hopes to end the month with a bang -- running 31 miles on Sunday, which is Jan. 31.

Moore managed more than 300 miles before hurting his knee while running in a snowstorm.

Moore, who's from Casco, is an avid runner and coach at the Maine Running Company in Portland. His goal is to raise $4,500 for Camp Sunshine, which has provided a camp experience to more than 30,000 sick children, siblings and parents.
