MONSON, Maine—The former Moosehead Furniture plant in western Maine has a new owner who says she plans to have the mill making furniture again in three to six months.
The Bangor Daily News says Louise Jonaitis bought the Monson plant and its equipment at auction Tuesday for $1.05 million. Jonaitis, the owner of Grand State O' Maine Land Co. in Newry and Hanover, said she plans to revive the Moosehead brand.
Moosehead Furniture was formerly known as Moosehead Manufacturing, which went under in 2007. A business group formed and reopened Moosehead Furniture later that year, but it shut down two years later.
Earlier this summer, Jonaitis and a business partner also bought the idle Sanders Brothers dowel mill in Greenwood at auction.
