AUGUSTA, Maine—All five candidates for Maine governor answered questions ranging from health insurance, environmental regulation to taxes as they addressed farmers at a forum.
The Kennebec Journal says that at a Tuesday forum, candidates were asked why the state doesn't allow farmers to buy health insurance out of state.
Democratic candidate Libby Mitchell said Maine law protects consumers from insurance that could be dropped if they get sick or have pre-existing conditions.
Independent Eliot Cutler promised to set up an office to review and repeal all unnecessary state laws. Republican Paul LePage said the Agriculture Department should regulate air, land and water in Maine.
Also attending were independents Shawn Moody and Kevin Scott.
